Abstract
Agriculture plays a crucial role in India’s economic landscape, with Madhya Pradesh contributing to the nation’s food security. This study explores the complexities of crop clusters in Madhya Pradesh, exploring their production patterns, market dynamics and implications for the agricultural sector. Employing a mixed-method research methodology, the study combines quantitative secondary data analysis with qualitative insights from key informant interviews. A purposive sample strategy is applied to choose significant districts and clusters within the state. The results demonstrate a diversified agricultural environment in Madhya Pradesh, with distinct crop clusters characterised by varying production volumes, market arrivals and trade prices. Agro-climatic variables, government regulations and market impacts are recognised as significant elements affecting the performance of these clusters. The study offers a comprehensive insight into local agriculture practices and difficulties by providing in-depth perspectives. The study emphasises the significance of sustainable farming practices, infrastructure development and climate-resilient initiatives for these clusters’ continuing expansion and competitiveness. The implications of these findings extend to farmers, policymakers and stakeholders, providing insights into optimising the agricultural sector in Madhya Pradesh. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of crop clusters and their significance in enhancing agricultural productivity and food security in the region.
