Abstract

This paper attempts to explain American foreign policy by identifying the relative importance of domestic, transnational and external factors at different levels of analysis that influence and constrain the conduct of American foreign policy. In its more contemporary context, a meaningful parallel analogy may be drawn between the current U.S. foreign policy issues and the cases examined here within.
