Abstract

This essay provides one perception of the infrastructure of academic entrepreneurship in Europe from the perspective of an American academic working there. It is not intended to provide a comprehensive picture of the status of academic entrepreneurship in the various nations of Europe. That is best left to the Europeans themselves. Its fundamental aim, however, is to provide some information and insight on unique European approaches to the study of small/medium enterprises and entrepreneurship. The paper attempts to reflect the diversity of the European investigation of entrepreneurship and small and medium enterprises.
