Abstract

We are very pleased to present this paper by Howard Aldrich concerning the use of a population-ecology approach to the study of entrepreneurship as the first offering in our Interdisciplinary Forum. It is hoped that the introduction of the Forum will stimulate and facilitate the contribution of other papers drawing upon knowledge and methodology from a variety of disciplines that may be useful to advance study in the field. You are encouraged to submit comments or rebuttals to Forum pieces for publication consideration. Such responses should be limited to no more than 2,000 words. The author will have the opportunity to respond in the same issue in which such a response is published. A dialogue is encouraged to enhance the value of the Forum as a vehicle for the exchange of ideas. Obviously, it will not be possible to publish all of the responses submitted. Selections will be made by the Editors and only one response per person will be considered.
