Abstract

It seems likely that the combined population of North and South America will grow during the next century to one billion and possibly to two billion persons. An attempt is made to forecast the kinds of life which people will lead at that time, their sources of food and raw materials, and their eco nomic status on the assumption that there will be no world-wide catastrophe in the meantime.
