Abstract

Worldwide economy landscape is continuously changing, currently being completely reshaped by entrepreneurial entities such as startups and unicorn companies. In this fast moving context, entrepreneurship can be overrated or it can still be relevant to new actors and possible game changers. In the eyes of young Romanians, is it appealing to become your own manager? What holds them back and what motivates them to start a business from scratch? The article aims to give a glimpse of the international entrepreneurial context, alongside of a Romanian picture, while exploring future possibilities. In order to withdraw these aspects we have summarized the current internal context and compared it to a larger picture, the international trend in entrepreneurship. Furthermore, as we wanted to explore and to predict the future of autonomous business in Romania, a quantitative research among young people was developed with the purpose of evaluating their interest regarding an entrepreneurial career. During the months of May to July 2019, we collected quantitative and qualitative data based on a questioner regarding 90 students from 3 different Romanian universities, then the information in visible form was analyzed and the results gave us the chance to express certain ideas about the preferences of young people regarding their future career and entrepreneurial predilections.
