Abstract

The quantitative, qualitative and structural improvement of the labor market in order to increase the level of development is a major objective of any country or region. In our study we aim to highlight the peculiarities of the labor market at regional level, focusing on the following elements sectors of activity, labor productivity, educational level, employment and unemployment rate. Moreover, we intend to observe the relationship between the structure of the labor market and regional economic development, in order to show that disparities in the level of regional development can be explained by the disparities in the employment structure. The results of our study highlight the necessity for change in the structure and quality of employment in order to assure the conditions for a balanced regional development in Romania.
