Abstract
Introduction. Russia, which has the largest energy capacity in Europe, has the lowest energy intensity index, which is known to characterize the efficient use of energy resources in the production of end products. At the present stage of development, the problems of reducing energy saving are challenges and threats to the economic security of the country, region, and business entity in the context of the sixth technological order. The relevance of the study is due to the fact that in the conditions of the sixth technological order, the methodological apparatus for analyzing challenges and threats to economic security is poorly developed, the results of which could form the basis for improving energy saving efficiency at the federal, regional, local and corporate levels of government. Purpose. Identification and assessment of challenges and threats in the use of energy-saving technologies in the country's economic security system in the context of the sixth technological order. Materials and Methods. The research is based on general scientific methods: comparative analysis, statistical analysis, contextual analysis, as well as scientific works by Russian scientists on such topics as the impact of reducing material consumption on production efficiency, the economic security of the country, region, business entity, and the integration of the energy saving mechanism into the corporate environment. Results. According to the results of the study, it was revealed that modern high-performance technologies that consume the least amount of material resources for the production of high-quality products are not effectively used at all levels of government (federal, regional, local and corporate). It is pro-posed to use elements of a closed economy and the recycling of production and consumption waste as such technologies. The advantages of the sixth technological order for end consumers and for improving the quality of life of the population are noted. The main threats to economic security for alternative energy, which has a significant impact on economic development and uses breakthrough technologies with a high efficiency, have been identified. It was also noted that breakthrough technologies, by their very nature, have no analogues, which ensures the competitiveness of domestic technologies in the global market. Conclusions. The conducted research has shown that the problems of reducing energy saving directly affect such complex indicators as the energy intensity of gross domestic product and the energy intensity of production. In order to achieve strategic goals to reduce energy saving, it is necessary to find management solutions to the challenges and threats to the economic security of the country, region, and business entity.
