Review Of Domestic Imperiological Discussion During The Post-Soviet Period (1992–2022)[Обзор Отечественной Империологической Дискуссии За Постсоветский Период (1992–2022)]

An extensive imperialological discussion – a discussion of the ontology of world empires – began in the last years of the Soviet Union, but it peaked at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Disputes were conducted both on the pages of scientific journals and in the media environment, often by the same persons. In the last decade, the sharpness of the discussion has significantly decreased, due to more urgent challenges facing society. The past thirty years – 1992–2022 allow us to identify trends and draw some conclusions. The author analyzes in detail the main trends of scientific and journalistic discussion, breaking them down by era. The conclusions made by the author are generally representative and reflect the course and development of the study of empires in Russian political thought.
