Abstract

The transformational processes that currently exist in society affect changes in the social consciousness of the population and are reflected in the social behavior of citizens, especially the younger generation. In this regard, the authors of the article turn to the factors of deviant behavior of Russian youth through a theoretical and methodological analysis of the problematic field of research. Within the frame-work of this work, two approaches to deviations are revealed: biological and sociological. Within the framework of the biological theory, the main ideas of the Italian criminalist and psychiatrist Cesare Lom-broso, the founder of the anthropological direction in criminal law, the founder of the theory of the depend-ence of psychological characteristics on signs of appearance, are considered. Attention is drawn to both the initial mistakes of the scientist and the evolution of his ideas. The authors emphasize that the biological theory should be expanded with the help of a sociological concept, which makes it possible to take into account the influence of the social environment on human behavior.
