Abstract

Within the framework of the study of determinism in the development of various countries of the world, several schools of scientific thought have been formed: geographical determinism, cultural and historical determinism, and the institutional school of economic development. In this article, the authors consider each of them from the point of view of historical and scientific aspects. At the same time, the main idea was to analyze these schools in relation to Russia and, in this regard, to characterize the problem of determinism as determining the answer to the question why Russia failed to become one of the most successful countries in the world.
