Abstract

Social infrastructure development of rural areas is one of the most important and, at the same time, the most difficult stages of sustainable development of the state. Scientific and technological progress and new technologies require higher and qualitatively new level of education, qualifications and cultural level of an individual. Approaches systematization made it possible to identify the following conceptual approaches to the concept definition: territorial, target, complex, component and labour. The definition is given for each of the identified approaches. The main trends in the typification and determination of social infrastructure purpose in rural areas were identified. The author's definition of social infrastructure of rural areas is proposed and its constituent elements are defined: scientific and educational, cultural and leisure, recreational, social, health care, trade, justice and emergency services. Each constituent element is interpreted.
