Abstract

The relevance of the topic. The influence of Russian startups on the formation of an innovative economy. Goal. Assessment of the conditions and prerequisites affecting the formation of a regional ecosystem of startups and identification of development prospects. Methodology. When writing the article, general and special methods of economic and managerial research were used. The information base consists of the results of research by rating and analytical agencies. Results and conclusions. The article discusses various author’s positions on the definition of the concept of a startup. The main features inherent in startups and distinguishing them from traditional businesses have been identified. Examples of successful startups in Russian and foreign practice are given. The main elements of the regional startup ecosystem have been identified. The leading regions in terms of the number of startups and regions with the potential for their implementation have been identified. The authors identified the problems hindering the development of the startup ecosystem and formulated proposals for their solution. Scope of application. The sphere of the regional ecosystem of Russian startups.
