Abstract

The purpose of the article is to identify and analyze the substantive components of the image of the future of Russia – ideas about the Russian government and leaders, the territory of the country – and a description of the prospects for the development of the state, power and people in the new political conditions. The empirical basis of the study is represented with the materials from in-depth focused, focus group and expert interviews collected in the autumn of 2024. The obtained transcripts and graphic materials were processed with political and psychological methods, based on which the following conclusions were obtained. The substantive aspects of the image of the future of Russia and the emphasis on certain of its components are connected with the projection of the present and the agenda that is in the center of attention of respondents here and now, as well as with retro-orientations in which respondents find symbols and plots of the desired positive future. Despite the general consolidation of the subjects around the ideas of patriotism and positive prospects for the future of Russia, there were found some contexts in the realm of the irrational that worry respondents, namely anxieties and fears. The mainstream of psychological expectations of the future is focused on the topics of the end of the «special military operation», the development of stability, public order and political silence in Russia. Silence here is interpreted as a situation when politics and public sphere experiences nothing that could indicate fatigue of public consciousness. The need for a more active and meaningful state policy in the sphere of information influence on public opinion is substantiated. The results of the study can be used in the development of strategies to prevent adverse acts of political behavior caused by transformations of socio-political public expectations, in the implementation of information and symbolic policies aimed at increasing the level of consolidation of society
