Abstract

The purpose of the work is to study the type of state designated in domestic and foreign political science theory by the concept of "postclassical empire". Subject of the research. Subjective characteristics of the "postclassical empire" during the formation of a new version of the world order in the context of globalization processes. The methodological basis of the study is a combination of methods of analysis and political discourse of the use of imperial methodologies for constructing foreign policy strategies in the geopolitical space. The evolution of ideas about imperial foreign policy traditions in the industrial and post-industrial societies of the 20th-21st centuries (historical method) is analyzed. A comparativist analysis of the main scientific ideas about the typical features and specifics of the foreign policy of neo-imperial states in the context of the development of the international relations system is presented. It is substantiated that the emergence of the typology of the "postclassical empire" is due to the political and ideological mimicry of supporters of the use of imperial methodologies for constructing foreign policy strategies during the Cold War and the post-bipolar world era. At present, such approaches continue in the desire to overcome the crisis of promoting modern globalist projects by turning to the potential of the imperial ideological and political heritage. Along with this, the need for a rational understanding of the phenomenon of neo-imperial tendencies in the modern geopolitical space is argued. As a result, based on the results of the study, a conclusion is formulated about the possibility of reviving the concept of empire, primarily as a phenomenon of political theory. At the same time, the prospects for its practical implementation will be determined by the balance of relations between national and international political entities of the post-bipolar era.
