Abstract

The paper aims to present the evolution of Foreign Direct Investments in Romania after 1989. The data were provided by two institutions, each one using a different methodology for the evaluation of FDI inflows: National Bank of Romania (NBR) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR). The author considers that there were two stages in the FDI inflows to Romania: one after 1989 and the other one starting in 1997. The total FDI inflow is reduced as compared to other neighboring transition economies.
