Relación entre crecimiento económico y manufactura en Ecuador usando técnicas de cointegración

Abstract

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo verificar la relación entre crecimiento económico y la manufactura en Ecuador durante el periodo 1970 a 2016, basándose en la primera ley de Kaldor (1967), la cual indica que el crecimiento del PIB total se encuentra determinado por el crecimiento de la manufactura. Se utilizó datos agrupados de serie de tiempo obtenidos del World Development Indicators del Banco Mundial (2017), y técnicas de cointegración para comprobar su cumplimiento. Los resultados indican que la manufactura se relaciona de forma positiva con el crecimiento económico a corto y largo plazo; pero no se evidencia causalidad de Granger, concluyendo que otros sectores de la economía pueden afectar directamente al crecimiento económico del país. Finalmente, la implicación de política económica derivada de esta investigación, es intensificar al sector manufacturero en ingeniería incluyendo a los diferentes sectores estratégicos para el crecimiento económico del país.
