Dos décadas de crecimiento económico e inequidad

Abstract

Chile se ha caracterizado por tener un destacable crecimiento económico, sin embargo, también se caracteriza por poseer uno de los más altos índices de desigualdad en distribución del ingreso. Durante la década del noventa y dos mil, el crecimiento económico logrado fue asombroso, y fue acompañado de una impecable reducción de la pobreza, pero no así con la desigualdad, que se mantuvo estable prácticamente en el período, con leves reducciones y aumentos en algunos períodos. ¿Acaso el crecimiento económico no permite reducir la desigualdad? En el presente ensayo se discute la búsqueda del crecimiento económico acompañado de una reducción en la desigualdad en distribución del ingreso.
