The analytical Aspects of Adjustment Programs

Author

Listed:

Abstract

The adjustment programs of the developing countries are still an issue of major concern to the policymakers. The macroeconomic maladjustment although generally evident in the form of imbalances in the internal and external sectors of the economy are often found to be the either causes or consequence of imperfections in the product and factor markets. A dilemma arises ns to the importance to be attached to the objectives of either growth or stability whenever the two are found to be incompatible. An analysis of the complexity of the various policy measures has been undertaken together with some suggestions provided in the conclusion.
