Abstract

La relation entre structure du marché et performance continue de susciter des interrogations chez les chercheurs et les décideurs. Bien que certaines preuves plaident en faveur d’une relation positive entre la structure du marché et la rentabilité, d’autres semblent confirmer que la rentabilité résulte de l’efficience. L’objet de cet article est d’analyser l’influence de la structure de marché sur la performance des entreprises industrielles au Cameroun. Afin de tenir compte de l’endogénéité de la variable de la structure de marché, nous appliquons la méthode des variables instrumentales sur données transversales d’entreprises industrielles. Les résultats montrent que la concentration n’a aucun effet sur le profit des entreprises. Par contre, le profit est influencé positivement par l’efficience des entreprises. Par conséquent, une politique de lutte contre la concentration (ou de promotion de la concurrence) serait donc inefficace et injustifiée. À la place, l’état devrait mettre en oeuvre des politiques qui améliorent l’efficience des entreprises.
