Desigualdad y bienestar en España y sus comunidades autónomas (1973-2003)

Abstract

Este trabajo presenta una integración del enfoque normativo de Dalton- Atkinson-Sen sobre la medición de la desigualdad con el enfoque positivo vinculado a las medidas estadísticas de dispersión o la familia de índices de entropía generalizados. Nuestra aportación elige un índice de desigualdad concreto, el índice de Theil (1967), a partir de la imposición de una serie de propiedades razonables sobre una función de evaluación social que expresa la valoración social de un vector de rentas como una suma ponderada de las mismas. Finalmente realizamos una aplicación a partir de las Encuestas de Presupuestos Familiares, que muestran cómo las mejoras en la distribución han contribuido a mejorar el bienestar más allá del crecimiento observado en la renta per cápita.
