Investigación: Crisis Bancarias Recientes en Argentina: Un Modelo y Evidencia Empírica Asociada

Abstract

El documento presenta la validación econométrica del modelo expuesto en la revista Ciencias Económicas nº 6. Vol. 2, UNL, que intenta explicar el comportamiento del sistema bancario argentino en la pasada la década del ’90. En dicho sistema, el BCRA contaba con un margen acotado para actuar como Prestamista de Última Instancia –PUI– al generarse una crisis bancaria, situación dada por la propia conformación de la Caja de Conversión de nuestro país. Anta la ocurrencia de dichos sucesos, la hipótesis de trabajo expresa que el sistema bancario padece de una inestabilidad endógena ante la ocurrencia de una corrida, dado que al BCRA puede quedar atrapado en la disyuntiva de tener que salvar al sistema financiero ó a la Caja de Conversión.
