Investigación: La Transmisión de Precios en la Cadena de la Carne Vacuna: una Aplicación Econométrica

Abstract

Las transmisiones de los cambios de precios en la cadena de carne es un tema altamente controversial, donde algunos participantes, como los productores, aducen que las subas de precios se transmiten rápidamente, pero no las bajas. Este trabajo tiene por objetivo analizar si existen asimetrías en los cambios de precios entre el sector minorista y primario de la producción, utilizando datos mensuales entre enero de 1996 y diciembre de 2005. Para el análisis se usó un modelo de cointegración no lineal, y los resultados encontrados revelan que los precios al consumidor ajustan más rápidamente que los precios al productor ante cambios que alteren éstos, denotando asimetrías en la transmisión de precios.
