Abstract

To ensure your safety and those around you means to behave responsibly, always to drive defensively and to invest in vehicle safety technologies. Automotive Safety consists of vehicle equipment like airbag or seatbelts and driver assistance technologies. Safety has become a leitmotif in the XXI century, and researchers are constantly investigating ways to reduce the risk factors to which we are exposed on public roads. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are based on expert knowledge and are implemented on vehicles. They use information from traffic, cameras, sensors and respond in real time contingency occurring while driving. Although expert systems work faster than human, sometimes only the driver reflexes can save the day because "It's not the speed that kills. It's the sudden stop!".
