Abstract
This research analysis the impact of the human development index on the labour migration. The research focuses on 23 countries, on the last few years. Human Development Index and its components, ranks countries by HDI value and details the values of the three HDI components: longevity, education (with two markers) and income per capita. The last couple of years have proven that uncertainty is a certainty. Because of Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, for the first time ever, the value of the Human Development Index has declined for two years straight. Many countries were going through declines of the Human Development Index in 2021. Even before the pandemic insecurity rose everywhere. Many people are still feeling alienated from their political systems, from each other. This paper tries to discover if the Human Development Index has some influence on labour migration. The paper tries to demonstrate that no country so far, has a high human development index, thus humankind needs to pursue other ways to develop.
