Abstract

(The economic view of human beings, prevailing particularly in economic sciences, has often been criticized for focusing on selfishness and for the underlying assumptions of rationality. Based on a reflection of those two streams of criticism this article brings forward a more profound critique of anthropic reason in order to obtain a more substantial and appropriate scientific approach to the ways we view human beings. Such an approach comprises the insight into the performative effects which are brought about by the views of human beings deployed in economic practice and science. In this respect, how we view human beings becomes a question of ethics of responsibility and exercising virtues.)
