Abstract

(It will be vital for future CSR research to re-focus on “business-society relations” as its conceptual core. This requires a (re-)consideration of the societal environment as well as of the micro-activities constituting CSR management. The (neo-)institutional approach in particular helps integrating the societal context into CSR research. Yet, scholars in this field seem to neglect the micro-activities at the business-society interface. Practice-theoretical approaches can fill this gap by highlighting the activities of CSR practitioners and thereby promote the underrepresented micro-level in CSR research, without abandoning the societal perspective.)
