San Francisco Cherán. Revuelta comunitaria por la autonomía, la reapropiación territorial y la identidad

Abstract

El presente documento refiere a un estudio de caso sobre la lucha de la comunidad de Cherán, en el corazón de la Meseta Purépecha, Michoacán, México. Se trata de un movimiento social en la búsqueda de autonomía y autogestión, que se inició en la defensa frente al saqueo de sus bosques. El propósito es situar la investigación en un marco analítico amplio, en un encuadre que ayude a la valoración de la comunidad como forma de vida y de organización social; y apreciar las principales aportaciones del caso Cherán sobre las actuales transformaciones socioeconómicas en América Latina.
