Abstract

A través del estudio de las relaciones del comercio visible entre las naciones europeas, se da cuenta de su proceso de integración económica; se construyen series históricas sobre importaciones y exportaciones que permiten hacer reflexiones y conclusiones sobre este proceso. Antes de la segunda guerra mundial en Europa se presentaban elementos que pueden identificarse como indicios de una integración comercial no formal; después de ese conflicto armado la desintegración comercial del continente europeo fue una más de las graves consecuencias económicas que se presentaron. Pero a partir de la posguerra, Europa se embarcó en un largo proceso histórico de integración, segmentado por la guerra fría e interrumpido por crisis económicas y a pesar de dichos obstáculos, actualmente la Unión Europea es el bloque económico comercial más importante e integrado del mundo.
