América Latina: crecimiento económico, empleo y pobreza

Abstract

Desde la década de los ochenta la región latinoamericana ha entrado en un importante proceso de transformaciones estructurales, asociado al cambio del patrón de acumulación de capital, sobre el cual ha tenido una gran incidencia la propuesta de ajuste neoliberal. El agotado modelo de sustitución de importaciones vigente desde los años cuarenta ha sido paulatinamente reemplazado por el llamado patrón de especialización exportadora, sustentado básicamente en ventajas comparativas, el cual ha modificado no sólo las bases productivas internas sino también ha redefinido la forma de· inserción de las economías latinoamericanas al mercado mundial.
