Evolución Histórica de los Flujos de Inversión Extranjera en México, 1960-1999

Abstract

El caso de la inversión extranjera directa (IED) es destacado en este trabajo ubicando la importancia que, en términos históricos, ha tenido para la economía mexicana. Se precisa no sólo la trascendencia que tiene en cuanto a su coincidencia con la definición económica de "inversión" y su capacidad de generar activos productivos dentro del país, además de generar encadenamientos productivos hacia atrás y hacia delante y otro tipo de efectos multiplicadores; sino también desde la perspectiva de que las empresas extranjeras poco se interesan en reinvertir sus ganancias en México y, por el contrario, suelen remitir la mayor parte al exterior.
