Convergencia municipal en Mexico con modelos de econometria espacial (1999-2014)

Abstract

Comunmente los estudios de convergencia en Mexico no consideran la dependencia espacial entre areas vecinas y solo unos cuantos de estos comprueban la hipotesis en el nivel municipal. Por ello el objetivo es comprobar si la convergencia (absoluta y condicional) ha ocurrido entre los municipios mexicanos durante el periodo 1999-2014 y evaluar si la contigüidad geografica influye en el proceso. La evidencia permite concluir que los municipios pobres crecieron economicamente mas rapido que los ricos, particularmente en el ultimo quinquenio del periodo de estudio, y la dimension espacial resulto ser un elemento cuya importancia se redujo con el tiempo; los anteriores resultados anticipan un crecimiento regionalmente mas autonomo de las economias en anos recientes.
