Abstract

[eng] Isabelle Guérin — Global Micro-Credit Summits : What state of affairs five years on ? The self-assigned mission of global micro-credit summits was to « sell » the tool to funding agencies. It is in such respect that the promoters do not hesitate to praise its virtues and to make increasingly exaggerated promises. They thus run the risk of indulging in a simplistic and dangerous discourse, with regard to engagements that are difficult to respect. Educating funding agencies towards a more realistic approach would obviously be a better means of ensuring the development of healthy and sustainable micro-finance.
