Abstract

[fre] Egalitarisme de la dominance et utilitarisme. . [eng] Social dominance egalitarianism and utilitarism. . Dominance criteria such Lorenz curve are central tools of the measurement of income inequality. Such differing theories as utilitarianism and egalitarianism can both support the use of these tools. In particular we explore under which assumptions an utilitarian agrees with a social dominance judgment. A "common utility" assumption is proposed. The case of differences in needs is emphasized.
