Abstract

[fre] Monnaie et équilibre classique. La théorie de Gray. . [eng] Money and classical equilibrium : the theory of Gray. . Among Classical economists, J. Gray appears to be original in maintaining that money is non neutral in equilibrium. Gray's point of view can be recasted in modern terms. In this note, a very simple mechanism of transaction is integrated in the definition of equilibrium, which accounts for what Gray called "measure of value". Gray's proposal to establish a Standard Bank is briefly analysed.
