Abstract

[eng] Jean Lhomme, from economy to history (1901-1987) . . This article recalls the scientific itinerary of Jean Lhomme, one of the founder of Revue Economique and its former president. In its early phase, Jean Lhomme's work was devoted to analyses of economie and social policies and particularity to experiments in planned economies (Germany, USSR, war-time France) as well as to British social and redistributive policy. From the 1950's Jean Lhomme favoured sociology and economie history. His major contributions deal on the one hand with the analysis of social classes and their relationship and with economic power. On the other hand, they are concerned with the history of French bourgeoisie. Jean Lhomme finally showed the necessary complementarity between economies and history, this to prevent the economist from developing concepts and theories that cannot be empirically checked. [fre] Jean Lhomme, de l'économie à l'histoire (1901-1987). .
