Abstract

[eng] Farmer's votes at the elections from 1992 to 1995 . Among 3 862 metropolitan cantons, 1 025 are cantons where, at least, 10 % heads of family are farmers. Electoral results booked in these cantons at the time of the referendum of Maastricht on the 20 th septembre 1992, parliamentary elections on 1993, european elections on 1994 and presidential election on 1995 are analysed. The moderate right-wing increases strongly in these cantons (9 points). The right orientation of this electorate is confirmed. The Goustat list (Hunters) registered a higher score than the national average at the european elections ; and Edouard Balladur made points at the presidential election. A majority of these cantons said "no " at the referendum of Maastricht but those of them who said "yes" were of higher proportion than the national average.
