Abstract

[eng] Surprisingly, the reduction of the rural population in France has stopped, and this population is now increasing. Although there are some problems of interpretation of statistical date, the reality of the phenomenon is certain. But the evolution is different in the rural regions situated near small and middle size towns, where population grows rapidly, and in more isolated rural communities, where population still decreases in many cases. This demographic renewal of rural areas is due to the possibility for many people to combine living in a natural environment and finding jobs and services in the nearby towns. As a consequence of its constant reduction, the agricultural population represents a rapidly diminishing proportion of the rural population, and its influence is decreasing. But there are ways to solve the conflicts between the different parts of the rural world.
