Abstract

[fre] Le chômage rural, identifié sous la forme du chômage déguisé en agriculture et à travers l'inactivité des femmes, a été, jusqu'à la rupture de 1974, une catégorie usuelle de l'analyse économique. Elle a quasiment disparu avec la montée du chômage. Pourtant celui-ci reste spécifique dans l'espace rural, plus résistant, même si la géographie du chômage rural ne diffère guère de celle observée pour l'ensemble du territoire français. Un dispositif d'observation statistique de l'évolution de l'emploi et du chômage rural est indispensable. [eng] Rural unemployment, perceived trough disguised agricultural unemployment and women inactivity has been a usual economic concept before the 1974 out break. With the increase of unemployment it has been considered as inappropriate. However, it remains specific and less flexible even if its geography is not very different from what is observed for the french territory as a whole. A systematic statistical apparatus is needed to measure the evolution of rural unemployment.
