Le monde rural face aux villes

Abstract

[eng] The rural world faced with the cities - Generally, rural space is becoming more and more a « dormitory » and residential space, while activities remain relatively concentrated in urban areas. For this reason, no mistake should be made about the evolution of jobs occupied by rural inhabitants. . The development of these jobs in most non-agricultural sectors and, in particular, in the tertiary sector, do not imply an equivalent development of employment situated in the rural area. In reality, a growing functionalization of space explains the expansion of employment of rural inhabitants, which is more and more an « urban employment ». In part, this is the result of the arrival of urban social classes in rural districts.
