Abstract

[fre] L'influence de la variation des taux de change sur les échanges de produits agricoles est analysée. Cet effet ne peut être assimilé à une simple variation des prix du produit. Une estimation économétrique mensuelle des importations communautaires de soja US (1967-1976) confirme cette hypothèse ; l'impact net d'une dépréciation du dollar est relativement faible mais ses conséquences sur l'étalement des importations semblent être très significatives. [eng] The effect of an exchange rate change on the trade of agricultural products is analyzed. This impact cannot be regarded as a simple variation in price. An econometric estimation of monthly EEC imports of US soybeans (1967-1976) confirms this prior assumption. The net result of an US dollar depreciation on the volume of trade is small, while its consequences on the timing of imports appear to be strongly significant.
