Abstract

[eng] The future of the countryside, the meeting place of nature and man - The historical analyses of two stretches of countryside, the study of their evolution and transformation factors, in other words the study of what they have and will become, and a few ideas on the relationship between tourism and the landscape lead us to work out a number of possible developments integrated in a landscape management framework. . Whether it is the result of empirical or deliberate steps, the future of our countryside is at present programmed by the ideologies of contemporary society : rationality, productivism, consumption... But to choose a landscap's future is to preserve for years to come a meeting place between nature and man that provides him with the raw material for his creative spirit and for his imagination. . The future of the countryside is therefore connected with an open opposition to the false ideology of a reassuring sense of happiness secreted by a mercantile Society so that the contacts between man and nature do not become rigid but can evolve, the first condition of all creation.
