Abstract

[eng] The Economie and Political Aspects of Food Aid . This paper brings to light the following three conclusions : . (a) In the forseesable future fairly considerable food aid will continue to be necessary to face not only critical situations but also the structural food imbalance in certain regions. . (b) Food aid must be integrated in the general framework of the food and development policies both of the recipients and of the donors. . (c) Continuous improvement in management is necessary to increase the economic and humanitarian efficiency of food aid : mean term planning, the coordination of the various programmes, the use of this aid in the receiving countries, « depolitization » etc. It seems that improvement in some of these respects has already begun.
