Abstract

[eng] Rural planning and growth of the metropolis - The optimisation of economic proposals made in geographical space remains very uncertain : on the one hand, the criteria of this optimisation, i.e. regional development, profit of firms, life space, have not been clearly defined or well thought out ; on the other hand, the transition from systems described by regional science to actual land is still speculative. . Planning and more generally upheavals in use of land are the results not only of inhibiting economic infrastructures but also of an ideology and culture often incongruent and asynchronous with the economic system. . Rural development programs are impeded by an insufficient knowledge of socio-economic aspects of space as well as a widespread belief, at least among the responsible technocraty, in the unavoidable growth of the metropolis, for which credits and efforts are provided in priority. . Rural economists, by limiting their research to agriculture encourage this situation.
