Abstract

[eng] The centres of attraction in the North-East Quercy - The exhaustive analysis of the amenities (food, constructions, public and private services) of the 48 « communes » in North-East Quercy leads to a classification of hamlets and villages according to their number and their size. This reveals the overwhelming superiority of the four principal towns of the four « cantons » which are the only true centres of attraction. In spite of the competition of Brive and local rivalty, a built-up area with Saint-Céré as its centre could be organized along an axis going from the hill- slopes of the Limargue to the valleys of the Dordogne and the Bave. It provides a characteristic example of an urban framework in a rural area.
