Abstract

[eng] 20th century economic growth put an end to the extreme poverty of some jrench provinces described by Arthur Young in 1787. . However, during this period, the sharing out of agricultural property created a new class of poor people : small farmers. . 20th century technical progress increased the gap between full developed regions and others (roughly, south-west part of France). Even in full developed areas you can find poor farmers : their leeway constantly increases, and they are quite conscious of it. . Are these regions and these poor farmers left aside by our industrial society ?
