Abstract

[fre] Cet article présente la diversité de l’univers des hedge funds et examine un certain nombre des conséquences engendrées par le développement de ces acteurs, notamment : la variabilité accrue des marchés financiers, la contagion des crises d’un marché à l’autre et la gouvernance des entreprises. Il conclut que le développement des hedge funds, favorable aux investisseurs, est générateur de risques macroéconomiques. . Classification JEL : G10, G23, G24, O16 [eng] Do hedge funds have a destabilising influence ? . This article presents the diversity of the hedge fund universe and examines a number of consequences arising from the development of hedge funds. These include the increased variability of financial markets, the spreading of crises from one market to another, and corporate governance. The article concludes that the development of hedge funds, while positive for investors, generates macroeconomic risks. . JEL Classification : G10, G23, G24, O16
