Abstract

. Classification JEL : F15, N14 [eng] Integrating more than just the European economy . At its core, the European project contained in the Treaty of Rome is presented first and foremost as a major economic project with its financial and monetary offshoots. The contributions made by subsequent treaties gave even more consistency to this project in other areas (e. g. social issues, the environment, culture, foreign policy, defence), but without profoundly changing the project’s economic impetus. As a result, public opinion has grown increasingly disenchanted with European integration, an attitude that must be contained and reversed to avoid very serious consequences. This can be done by returning to the source of the European integration project and taking inspiration from the ideals held by the founding fathers. . JEL classification : F15, N14
