Abstract

. Classification JEL : F15, F36, N24 [eng] Euro, Europe : an incomplete success . Europe is at a crossroads. It must create new economic forums with the same galvanising potential as the common market and single currency. Here, Barrot demonstrates how the situation of the European economic and monetary union illustrates several key characteristics of the overall situation in Europe : considerable technical and economic success, admiration of foreign countries, uncertainty and insufficient explanations within Europe, nationalist and demagogic tendencies... all of which constitute political challenges that Europe’s leaders will not long be able to ignore if they want to see Euro and Europe alike become true successes in their own right. . JEL classification : F15, F36, N24
