Abstract

. Classification JEL : F15, N14 [eng] Returning to a successful path towards European integration . In this interview, Élisabeth Guigou stresses the originality and strength of European integration. Built on the solid foundation of democracy and peace, the European Union has a unique place in world history. Nevertheless, given the challenges posed by globalisation, the project for a unified Europe has the power to overcome the public’s disenchantment by providing concrete solutions to the current crisis drawn from past experiences, such as the Franco-German alliance. European projects may then be initiated in a variety of fields, such as the environment, energy and research. Moreover, a new balance must be reached in the Euro Zone between the goals of monetary stability and stimulation of growth and thus employment. On the whole, the ingredients of European success are a combination of concrete projects with visible results, properly functioning institutions and a clear political determination founded on a vision for Europe and the World. .
